White wheels have the highest friability so they produce the sharpest cleanest cut.
Because of that high friability they wear out faster and do not hold their form as long as other wheels.
White wheels are best suited for when you want to grind the best edge possible, or are constantly re-dressing your wheel to accommodate for different hollows.
Always perform the ring test before installing a grinding wheel. Put your finger through the hole and suspend the wheel. Then tap the wheel with your knuckle or a screwdriver. If it rings like a bell it is good to use. If you hear a “thud” it is cracked and must be discarded.
