Pro Tip:
Aluminum oxide stones will initially hone as well as silicon carbide, but will slowly dull the sharpness of the grain.
These stones will hold their shape much longer but need to be refreshed (dressed) from time to time.
Hone your skates with a course or medium stone prior to sharpening. Starting out with a clean edge makes a big difference.
After sharpening finish the blade off with a medium or fine stone.
The small details will separate you from your competitors.
